Centrica Storage Limited (CSL) is delighted to be supporting Boynton Village Hall through its Caythorpe Gas Storage Environmental Support Fund 2015.
This year, CSL donated £1,800 to Boynton Village Hall so that three new eco-friendly hand dryers can be bought and installed at the facility to replace existing paper towels, reducing the amount of rubbish going to landfill.
The money will also be spent on increasing loft insulation from two inches to a minimum of six to help cut the facility’s electricity bills.
The improvements are set to complete by the end of the year.
Tricia Ellis, a member of Boynton’s village hall committee, said: “We have received a great deal of support from Centrica Storage Limited in recent years. We are delighted with the announcement that we have been awarded funds for additional environmental improvements for the Village Hall, which follows a £37,000 grant we received from the company a few years ago. This extra £1,800 will make a huge difference to our community hall and the local residents who use it.”
This year, CSL made £10,000 of funding available.
CSL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centrica plc. It operates the Rough gas storage facility in the southern North Sea and the Easington onshore gas processing terminal. CSL will manage the Caythorpe Gas Storage site through construction and later when it becomes operational.
Centrica plc acquired the Caythorpe Gas Storage project from Warwick Energy and owns the onshore Caythorpe gas producing field, which is a substantially depleted onshore gas field located close to the National Transmission System. Caythorpe has planning permission for conversion to an onshore gas storage facility with a capacity of up to 7.5 billion cubic feet (bcf) of gas.
CSL’s plan to develop a mid-range gas storage facility at Caythorpe is currently on hold. This is due to the current reduced price volatility in the UK Gas Market, which is a key to the value of the project. CSL continues to keep the project under review.
